Cat’s Tongue Towels – Degreasing Towels That Pack For Your Ride

How many times have you been out for a ride and been left with greasy hands after having to fix something on your bike? Hopefully, not often, but it does happen. When it has happened to me, I’ve tried everything from using leaves from the side of the road to used gel packets to provide a barrier between my hands and a greasy chain. It never fails though, I end up with grease on my hands.

Cat's Tongue Towels come individually packed for your jersey pocket or in a handy canister to use at home.

Cat’s Tongue has come up with a portable solution to this problem. Their 8″ x 12.25″ pre-moistened towels are made to take the grease off your hands quickly and easily. What makes them unique is the double sided texture on the towels. On one side, they have a non-scratching abrasive texture to help get the grease and grime off. Think of the name, Cat’s Tongue. If you have ever been licked by a friendly cat, you know how rough their tongues are. The towels are not THAT rough, but you get the idea. The other side is a smooth texture to finish off the job and wipe your hands clean. They are moistened with a lemon and water citrus degreaser combined with aloe to be gentle on your hands, but still cut the grease and leave you clean. And because they do not contain any harsh chemicals, it is safe to use on your bike as well.

The individual packs fit great in a pocket.
The individual packs slide into your pocket easily to be used in an emergency.

For rides, they are packed into individual packets that fit perfectly into a jersey pocket or a saddle bag. They also make a 30 count canister that is great for in the car, the garage, or your local shop. These towels are not just for your hands though. Other uses I’ve seen are cleaning white handle bar tape and cleaning off shoes after a dirty ride. What can be done with these towels is only limited by your imagination.

So far, my experience has been great. They cleaned chain grease off my hands very well after swapping cassettes from one wheel to another. The citrus scent is pleasing, and my hands were left clean and dried quickly. Some chemical degreasers tend to leave my hands dried out after use, but the natural lemon and water degreaser with added aloe does a good job to keep them soft. I have not had a chance to test them on embrocation yet, but these could be the solution to how to clean your hands after applying at a race, and remove it from your legs afterwards.
