Inspire the Design of the Oakley Icon Sender; Win a Trip to 2013 Red Bull Rampage

The Red Bull Rampage is one of the most anticipated freeride mountain bike events of the year by riders and fans alike. The treachery of the terrain, the fearlessness of the riders and the everprogressive course keep people coming back for more year after year. This year, Oakley is inviting fans to play a role in designing the legendary centerpiece of the Red Bull Rampage course, the Oakley Icon Sender.

“Innovative design is what fuels the Oakley brand,” said Cuan Petersen, Global Performance  Sports Director at Oakley. “The Icon Sender is a tribute to that ingenuity and one way for the brand to give back and inspire the mountain bike community.”

“It is such a tight knit group,” continued Petersen of the mountain bike community. “The ‘Render the Sender’ contest offers a way for fans to get closer to the action and win an exclusive trip to witness first-hand the biggest event of fthe year in freeride mountain biking.”

To enter the “Render the Sender” contest fans can submit anything from loose concepts sketched on a cocktail napkin to digitally constructed 3-D renderings of their interpretation of the 2013 Oakley Icon Sender.

All concepts will be narrowed down to three finalists by a panel of elite judges including Rampage riders, builders and Oakley designers. From there it goes back to the fans to vote on their favorite design. The winning concept will be revealed in Whistler at the Red Bull Joy Ride event. The grand prize is an all-expenses-paid trip for the winning designer to see their concept come to life at the 2013 Red Bull Rampage in Virgin, Utah.

“I can’t wait to see what the fans of Rampage who have been wishing they could build their own lines for years can come up with,” said legendary Rampage rider, Cam Zink. “It is an amazing opportunity for anyone who rides, builds or just imagines, to see their concept come to life and have the best riders in the world throw down on it! The people will be heard thanks to Oakley!”
