It doesn’t matter how fast you move on your bike; it always seems that the mosquitoes seem to find you regardless. Furthermore, as the day cools and your body is still warm, the pests flock to you like buzzards to raw meat. Sure, you can cover yourself in DEET, but no one wants to have a post-ride beer with you when you smell like a chemical factory.
That’s where Mosquitno Bandzz come in.
Mosquitno Bandzz uses citronella instead of chemicals to repel the biters and swarmers (mosquitoes, flies, gnats, no-see-ums and other flying insects). In Mosquitno Bandzz, a 15% solution of citronella is infused into a silicone band (much like a Livestrong bracelet) and it offers up to 150 hours of protection.
I didn’t know this, but citronella is completely natural, distilled into an oil from a grass variety found in China. If you’ve ever been around a citronella candle at an outdoor party, you know that it has a very pleasant citrus scent.  Furthermore, it’s safe and non-toxic to humans, animals and the environment. It’s even safe for the pesky bugs we are keeping away.
Boy, could we have used the Mosquitno Bandzz earlier in the summer. The kids started the season with a couple of outdoor campsand came home with more than 20 bites each all over their body.
When the next outdoor camp was scheduled, I knew it was time to put the bands to the test. Their camp was on an organic farm where there is little to no natural pest control, so I knew that the environment was ripe for lots of bites.
We sent the kids off each morning with a bracelet on their arm and I’m happy to report that they came home bite free each day. We would remove the bracelets, pop them back into their resealable bags and use them again the next day.
At only $3.99 for 150 hours of protection, the bands are a pretty good value. You can even get a 5 pack for $17.99. Even better, you can send the bands back to the manufacturer for recycling.
My two junior reviewers give Mosquitno Bandzz two big thumbs up each! What else do you need to know?
