Peter Sagan continues to collect successes in North America. In the opening stage of the Tour of Alberta (7.3 km prologue in Edomonton), the Slovakian champion of Cannondale Pro Cycling took the win leaving behind Dennis (13″) and Ludvigsson (14″). After the winning series achieved in Colorado (four wins) Sagan collected the 19th win of the season and proves himself as the most winning rider. For Cannondale Pro Cycling the number of success is 30.
For Sagan winning a prologue is not something new. In 2012 he won the one at Tour de Suisse, while he collected prestigious placements in 2011 and 2010 always in Switzerland and in 2010 in Romandie.
“When I feel good I don’t want to preclude any result and today the feelings were great” said Sagan. “I raced this prologue aiming to the victory. I like these short and strong efforts, I know I can be really competitive. After the great experience in Colorado I trained in altitude with my teammates to maintain the level of the form I achieved and be at the start of Tour of Alberta already competitive. This race it’s an important step for this final part of the season and I would like to race in the best way. We’ll see the result I can achieve during next days, but I’m here to do well and the win is always the first goal”.
Sagan will be at the start of the second stage of Tour of Alberta wearing the jersey of leader of general classification.
