Saxo-Tinkoff were on the start ramp at today’s team time trial world championships setting out on the 56.8 kilometer long course with Mads Christensen, Michael Mørkøv, Nicolas Roche, Nicki Sørensen, Manuele Boaro and Matteo Tosatto.
The route was relatively easy with quite a few long and flat stretches favouring the big engines in the field but coming in to Florence, the course turned more technically demanding. Several of the biggest teams favourites got a spot in the hot seat but no one was able to able to beat Omega-Pharma Quick Step who repeated their win from last year’s win at the world championships.
Team Saxo-Tinkoff finished ninth and DS, Philippe Mauduit and he had this comment after the ride:
“The boys delivered a solid effort. Nicolas Roche and Michael Mørkøv really pounded away from the very start while Nicki Sørensen and Matteo Tosatto were the strong motors on the final part of the course but everyone delivered a 100% effort and I can’t expect much more than that. This is a discipline we would like to improve so we’ll keep working and hopefully climb the rankings next year,” said Mauduit.
