Slidepad Technologies’ revolutionary single-lever front and rear brake system is available as an aftermarket kit for just $49.95 to convert virtually any bicycle with cantilever or V-brakes. Slidepad also is available as standard equipment on two of Jamis Bicycles® most popular urban and recreational bicycles this holiday season — the 2013 Jamis Commuter 4 and the Hudson Sport.
Slidepad provides recreational cyclists with a single-lever braking system that uses the force of the rear wheel to intelligently modulate the front brake. The system is like having front wheel ABS, making riding safer and easier by alleviating the risk of front wheel lockup accidents caused by rider error, while giving riders better braking control and efficiency and simplifying the user experience making cycling even more enjoyable.
“Even as Slidepad continues to gain industry-wide acceptance by manufacturers who are equipping their new models with our single-lever braking system, we want riders to also be able to convert their existing bicycle to the revolutionary Slidepad system,” said Slidepad’s Brian Riley.
The Jamis Hudson Sport features the Slidepad braking system with ProMax forged alloy direct pull brakes and Tektro alloy comfort lever; a seven-speed Shimano twist-shifting single chain ring drivetrain is available on the Sport and the Nexus 5-speed internal geared hub upgrade on the Sport Deluxe. The Hudson Sport’s lightweight aluminum frame is available in six sizes, including two step-through. It comes with Jamis Sport Comfort tires with whitewalls or skinwalls, and the Jamis Comfort Sport seat with memory foam and synthetic suede top, and a near all-alloy parts reducing weight, adding value and is rust proof. The Sport Deluxe (MSRP $ 550) and the Sport (MSRP $465) are available in men’s and step-through models.
The 2013 Jamis Commuter 4 is the ideal commuter bike, featuring the smooth shifting NuVinci® N360™ continuously variable drivetrain and the innovative Slidepad braking system. The Commuter 4 features include 700x32c Vittoria Adventure tires with solid shielding puncture protection and reflective sidewalls and upgraded mud flaps. The Commuter 4’s lightweight aluminum frame is available in seven sizes, including two step-over sizes. It comes with a full-length chain guard, full coverage fenders with adjustable stays, color-matched rear carrier, NVO height adjustable stem, the Jamis Metro Sport seat with memory foam and synthetic leather cover and large comfortable pedals with TPE non-slip inserts.
