Climbing talent Chris Butler joins Hincapie Sportswear Development Cycling Team

  • Ron

As the saying goes, “there’s no place like home.” For Chris Butler in 2014, that means being back under the Hincapie family banner on the Hincapie Sportswear Development Cycling Team.

Butler, 26, first raced on the Hincapie Development Team (a predecessor of the current pro team), and later with George on the BMC Pro Cycling Team, where he competed in the Giro d’ Italia, Giro del Trentino, Tour de l’Avenir and other premier events. In 2013 he rode for Champion Systems before moving back to a Hincapie team for 2014.

Few have seen Chris’ career development more closely than George, who first met and mentored Chris when he was a college student at Fuman University.

“Chris started with us early on and was an incredible climbing talent. We think he has world-class climbing ability and look forward to helping him develop that talent further. said George Hincapie.” Having him on our roster gives us an even more dynamic, talented group of up-and-coming guys.”

Butler will join his teammates in Greenville for training camp February 16-23, where they’ll race the Greenville Spring Training Series to warm up for their major objective, the Redlands Cycling Classic.
