Last year, we published an article on our experience riding the TD Five Boro Bike Tour. If you liked what you read, and want to give it a shot, now is the time to register, as spots will fill up fast.
This year’s event will be on Sunday May 4th, 2014. The 40 mile ride takes you through all five boroughs of New York City, and over some of the iconic bridges in the city. The route is completely closed off, giving riders a very unique opportunity to ride streets they normally could only drive their cars on. Bike Expo New York will be back for 2014, at Basketball City, on Pier 36, on the east side of Manhattan, and will again be free to enter, with on-site valet bike services also available free of charge through Transportation Alternatives.
For more on the event, check out the TD Five Boro Tour website.

Hi Scott,
Thanks for plugging registration for the TD Five Boro Bike Tour! Will you be riding in the Tour?
Please note that Bike New York and the TD Five Boro Bike Tour are not connected with Gran Fondo New York, and that the Expo you mention (the one moving to the armory) is the New York City Bike Expo, which is a Gran Fondo event. Our Expo–Bike Expo New York, that is–will be held at its usual location: Basketball City, on Pier 36, on the east side of Manhattan. Bike Expo New York is the most-attended consumer bike expo in the nation, and it’s totally free. Should be a good time!
Best,
Samuel Slaton
Thanks for the clarification Samuel! I’ve updated the post to reflect the correct info for Bike Expo New York.
