Michael Mørkøv overall third in Copenhagen

Tonight, Tinkoff-Saxo’s Danish national road race champion, Michael Mørkøv participated in the annual Copenhagen six-day race, which the powerful Dane has already won three times in his career with his partner, Alex Rasmussen.

On this opening night in snowy Copenhagen, Tinkoff-Saxo’s track specialist was fighting intensely to gain that extra lap ahead of the nearest rivals. And the mind-blowing average speed of more than 51 kilometers an hour in the final chase over 75 kilometers resulted in huge gaps in the field. However, four couples managed to create the crucial gap and Mørkøv/Rasmussen sprinted their way to an overall third position.

Mørkøv says:

“I’ve been looking forward to this event for a long time. Riding in front of your Danish home crowd is a significantly emotional experience. The six-day tradition has been a huge part of my cycling upbringing and I always want to launch the new season racing here in Copenhagen. The goal is to win and having teamed up with my partner, Alex Rasmussen, I’m sure we can achieve what we’re here for and we got a good start of the week without losing laps,” says Mørkøv.
