3T Designs Recalls Cervélo Bicycles With Aduro Aero Handlebars Due to Risk of Injury.

3TAduroRecalleNews_150123In a email to subscribers of its newsletter, Cervélo and 3T have announce a joint recall of bikes fitted with the 3T Aduro aero bar. Below is the text from the email, along with instructions on what to do if you own one of the recalled bikes.

If you have purchased a Cervélo P5 fitted with 3T Aduro aero bars, please do not ride your bike until you read this letter and ensure that the repairs indicated have been completed.  Riding the bike without making these repairs could lead to a loss of control of the bike and serious injury.

As you may know 3T voluntarily recalled the Aduro aero bars fitted to some Cervélo P5 bicycle models in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”) and Health Canada due to the potential for the threaded inserts on these aero bars to come loose, causing the aero extensions to detach from the base bar. Such separation while riding can cause the aero extensions to suddenly rotate forward, causing a loss of control posing a risk of injury.

What do I do if I ride a P5?

To determine whether or not your 3T handlebar is affected, bring your bike to an authorized Cervélo retailer to be inspected.  An authorized Cervélo retailer is equipped to determine whether your bar needs to be replaced, and can start the replacement process as described on our website below.  If you have had your 3T Aduro bar previously inspected, you will have a green stick with a red é on the bottom of your bar indicating that it is safe to ride.

If you are unable to reach a Cervélo retailer, or have any further questions, do not hesitate to contact to following:
