Unitedhealthcare Pro Cycling’s Sharon Laws continues winning streak in El Salvador

UnitedHealthcare Blue Train rider Sharon Laws kept the team’s podium streak alive on stage 1 of the Tour of El Salvador.

The day proved to be long and challenging as the race curved along the hilly coastline at a pace that narrowed the peloton to a group of only 30 riders. The peloton headed inland and climbed gradually upward for 10 kilometers before the course shot up substantially for a grueling final two kilometers, thinning the group of leaders even further.

In the closing meters, Laws jumped from an elite group of 15 leaders, including teammates Mara Abbott and Katie Hall, to secure the second place on the day.

Sports Director Rachel Heal concluded, “This was a good day for the team. Sharon claimed another podium for the team, and all three of the climbers are in contention for the General Classification.” Today, the team takes on stage 2, a 115-kilometer stage starting and finishing in the city of Olocuilta.
