The tenth annual edition of the North American Handmade Bicycle Show concluded on Sunday afternoon. It proved to be another great year for NAHBS, with an estimated 1300 attendees braving the rain to get one last look at the jaw dropping handmade work on display. The best Campagnolo equipped bike went to English Cycles, the Best In Show went to Argonaut Cycles and Louisville, Kentucky was announced as the host city for the 2015 show.
NAHBS founder and president, Don Walker said: “It’s been a great show here in Charlotte. The local cycling community came out in force and that really made an impact. Plus, the food in this town is incredible! I’d love to come back for that alone. New trends this year like fat bikes and e-bikes caught be my surprise. Quite honestly, I didn’t expect them to catch on so quickly.”
When asked about taking the 2015 edition of NAHBS to the Bluegrass State Walker said, “I’m excited to bring NAHBS to my hometown of Louisville, Its gonna be a huge show. I’m on the ground there 365 days a year, so we have 12 months to make Louisville the best NAHBS ever!”
Following one of their popular hourly craft beer samplings Chad Melis, Oskar Blues Brewery Marketing Director said, “It’s been a great weekend for Oskar Blues and Reeb Cycles. With Oskar Blues now brewing in nearby Brevard, NC, being able to feel and be a part of the bike culture in Charlotte has been really cool. Everybody had a great time whether it was at the party or enjoying the bikes. It was an outstanding weekend on two wheels!”
After grabbing Best In Show honors, Argonaut Cycles’ Ben Farver commented, “I can’t tell you how excited I am. I’ve been following the show for years and I’ve always paid attention to the awards – particularly Best In Show. To be included in the select pool of people that have taken this award home before me is insane. It’s an honor. I can’t even describe how it feels.”
