Team TIBCO opened the first NRC race of the season with a major victory today, seeing Lauren Stephens take the Stage 1 win and Andrea Dvorak capturing the Queen of the Mountains jersey.
Team TIBCO delivered an outstanding performance throughout today’s 42-mile Highland Circuit Race, working cohesively and assertively to deliver the stage win.
Several attacks characterized the day’s racing, with riders completing 14 laps on the 2.8-mile loop. With a sharp climb on course, riders battled it out for Queen of the Mountain points. Dvorak came out on top, winning the climber’s jersey.
Stephens clinched the win from a lead group of about 30 riders and is currently leading the general classification standings.
Stephens will wear the leader’s jersey going into tomorrow’s 7.8-mile individual time trial in Big Bear at a lung-busting elevation of 7000 feet. Four stages remain at the Redlands Bicycle Classic.
