Après Vélo has today appointed a living legend of Australian cycling, Henk Vogels, as an Official Ambassador for the brand. Vogels is known the world-over as one of the most charismatic personalities in cycling, which was backed up by his trademark hard-riding in professional teams across Europe and North America.

“Henk is hugely popular and respected in all corners of the cycling world. We all know about his incredible performances on the bike including two Tours de France, two top-ten finishes at the Paris-Roubaix and mixing it up with the pro peloton over a fifteen-year career,” said Après Vélo ‘Big Cog’ Leonard Greis.

“But what we most love about Henk is that he is a larrikin. Après Vélo is a brand that lives and breathes cycling culture, but we are certain not to take ourselves too seriously. Anyone who has ever had the chance to sit down with Henk will have heard a fantastic and often very funny yarn about the sport; he is one of our great storytellers.

“And that’s what we are about, living the ride through light-hearted stories of cycling culture through our designs and garments. Henk is a great personality to represent our brand and share our beautiful cycling inspired casual wear with.

Now retired from the pro peloton, Vogels is currently the Directeur Sportif for the Drapac Professional Cycling team and a co-host on SBS Cycling programming. He is excited to be working with a brand that shares his passion for cycling in a style that reflects his own personality.

“I am very excited to be working with such a unique, cool company. Après Vélo has so much passion for cycling and so much style; this is going to be a great fit,” said Vogels.

In his role as Après Vélo Ambassador, Vogels will exclusively wear Après Vélo apparel away from the bike and team commitments with Drapac Professional Cycling and be featured in Après Vélo campaigns throughout the year. Fans looking to check out his style can tune in to one of the 2014 SBS Tour de France panel shows where he will be ‘modeling’ the limited edition Après Vélo Tour de France t-shirt.
