Borah Teamwear, proud partner and supporter of the Optum Pro Cycling team, has just released its latest cycling jersey and prototype speed suit for the squad to utilize at the Amgen Tour of California.
The OTW Speed Jersey, featuring an aerodynamic, collarless design, mesh cooling inserts, and powergrip sleeve bands, will be a versatile piece for both criterium and road racing disciplines.
The prototype OTW Speed Suit, a concept that has been in the works with defending US Time Trial Champion Tom Zirbel, will be put to the test with the entire Optum squad for the Tour’s Stage 2 Folsom Time Trial.
“I can tell a lot of thought and engineering went into this new speed suit. It’s form fitting, yet without annoying constrictions,” said Tom Zirbel, a key influencer in the suit’s development. “It has a custom-made feel, which is a serious advantage when I’m putting the power down in an aerodynamic position,” added Zirbel.
The OTW Speed Suit prototype features structured panels to reduce drag. Plus, a near seamless design and new fabric, imported from Switzerland, that allows the pattern to conform to the rider’s body and absorb fabric wrinkles – a major component of drag.
The OTW Speed Jersey is available for custom design, and can be found at mtborah.com. The OTW Speed Suit is expected to release in June 2014.
