Sombrio announced today that world-class mountain bike racers and former brand athletes Jill Kintner and Bryn Atkinson will return to the Sombrio Cartel in 2015.
Jill and Bryn have plans to take their race season in an exciting new direction. While they will still compete in select international downhill events, the athletes will be shifting their focus in 2015. They will compete at more North American gravity-fed events; the Pro GRT series in the United States; as well as mountain bike festivals like the Sea Otter Classic in Monterey, California and Crankworx in Whistler, British Columbia.
“It’s exciting to be a part of a brand that has a fashion sense as well as an understanding for technical materials and the function needed for riding bikes in all types of weather conditions,” said Jill Kintner. “Fit is important to me, and gone are the days of hand sewing all my race kits just to look like a girl. Sombrio comes stock with awesome cuts for men and women.”
“Sombrio knows that looking good makes you feel good,” added Bryn Atkinson. “The brand is a leader in the bike apparel industry. I am proud to represent their line moving forward.”
With their new riding direction, Jill and Bryn will still be able to share their passion and enrich the mountain bike culture through cutting edge, progressive web edits, and coaching their own branded instructional skills camps.
“We are excited to have Jill and Bryn back as part of the Sombrio Cartel,” said Kyle Weiner, President, Sombrio. “We want to partner with athletes, who share a passion and drive for the mountain bike culture. Jill and Bryn are not only at the forefront of the sport, but they live mountain biking every day.”
This shift in focus for Jill and Bryn aligns well with Sombrio’s next chapter. With roots firmly planted in Freeride, Sombrio, has always been focused on combining fashion and function to create cool, innovative gear for mountain biking. As Sombrio’s range continues to expand beyond their core of Freeride apparel, Jill and Bryn, alongside Freeride legend Darren Berrecloth, former Olympian Andreas Hestler, and a crew of up and coming riders and established ambassadors, will play an integral role in product development bringing together years of experience across a diverse range of disciplines to Sombrio.
