Tim Johnson to lead PeopleForBikes Ride on Chicago

  • Ron

Pro cyclocrosser Tim Johnson will lead 25 other riders on a five day bike tour that will benefit PeopleForBikes. The Ride of Chicago, taking place from June 2nd through 6th, will pedal through the midwest, covering anywhere from 85 to 120 miles a day from Minneapolis to Chicago.

Founded in 2011, the ride has raised more than $300,000 for the national bike nonprofit PeopleForBikes, helping to build more safe and appealing places for people to bike. The ride has also increased awareness for bike advocacy throughout the bike racing and enthusiast communities.

In previous years, Johnson and others rode from Boston to Washington D.C. in the “Ride on Washington”. In 2014 the ride moved to the Midwest and became the “Ride on Chicago”. The ride will take place in the Midwest again this year, this time starting in Minneapolis, traveling through Madison and Milwaukee and ending in Chicago. The nearly 500-mile route consists of riders pedaling an impressive 85-120 miles per day.
