Registration is now open for the 2015 Icon Tour of the Moon bicycle ride.
The October 3rd event, which gives riders the opportunity to ride through the stunningly beautiful Colorado National Monument, is considered one of the premier cycling rides in the U.S., offering breathtaking high desert scenery and magnificent roads. Starting and finishing in Grand Junction, CO, the Icon Tour of the Moon offers cyclists two outstanding courses, the 62-mile metric century and the shorter 41-mile version, both of which include the epic Colorado National Monument (a unit of the National Parks system).
Limited to the first 2000 riders, the Icon Tour of the Moon has never failed to sell out. Riders who register by April 30 can now save $10.
According to event director Scot Harris, the Icon Tour of the Moon is indeed an epic ride: “There really is nothing like it – the magnificent sandstone cliffs, the beautiful high desert, the top quality roads, and, of course, the chance to ride through one of the most spectacular areas in the western U.S. Of course, the Monument should be on every rider’s bucket list – and the Icon Tour of the Moon gives you a great way to check that box,” says Harris. “We’ve got an unparalleled ride, well-stocked aid stations with friendly volunteers, a welcoming town and a grand post-ride celebration; you just shouldn’t miss this one.”
Almost as much fun as the actual ride, the post-event Harvest Moon Celebration provides registered riders a free lunch, refreshments, prize drawings for great swag and a cycling expo.
