Along with Cannondale-Garmin’s roster announcement for this year’s Giro d’ Italia, their helmet and sunglass sponsor, POC, will be launching their newest eye wear, the Do Half Blade.
After the successful launch of the Do Blade, POC is keeping the great features of the full framed version, while removing the lower portion of the frame to offer an increased field of vision for the rider.
POC is continuing to work with Zeiss to optimize the lenses for road cycling by increasing the contrast of the lens. This helps riders more easily spot road cracks, potholes, and other road surface issues. They also added an anti-fog and water ripple treatments to keep the lenses clear in challenging conditions. The frame continues to be made with grilamid, which keeps the weight low, without adding weight. The adjustable nose will help you find the perfect fit.
The Do Half Blade comes with a spare lens that can be quickly and easily swapped when lighting conditions change.
Here is what Oscar Huss, Head of Product Development at POC, had to say:
“The release of the Do Half Blade is really important to us as it has given us the opportunity to evolve and improve our eyewear for cyclists. We really wanted to give a rider the best feel and vision possible as an increased field of vision improves the ride experience and bike safety. To meet this challenge a critical new feature which came out of our research and testing is the re-designed and reduced frame which enhances lower and peripheral vision”.
Jonathan Vaughters, CEO of Slipstream Sports and Cannondale-Garmin Pro Cycling added:
“We are excited to use the Do Half Blade for the first time in the 2015 Giro. The Peloton is an intense and competitive environment and giving our riders improved lower and peripheral vision, in all weather, it’s a huge advantage, enabling them to ride faster and safer”.
The Do Half Blades will be available at select retailer in June 2015 and should be added to their website soon. Until then, keep an eye out for them on the Cannondale-Garmin riders at the
Giro d’ Italia.
