Team Colavita|Bianchi was one of only fourteen teams invited to participate in the inaugural Woman’s Tour of California. Stage one started under a fresh covering of snow in South Lake Tahoe, were the peloton raced around beautiful Lake Tahoe and finished at Heavenly Mountain Ski Resort. The weather cooperated slightly better on stage two which conquered a rolling, two lap circuit with another challenging finish at Heavenly. The team raced patiently for the first two stages with a competitive eye on stage three. The third and final stage saw the action switch to a Crit style, fast and flat two mile circuit in downtown Sacramento.
The course in Sacramento was packed with anxious race fans looking to see some of the fastest women in the Pro peloton. It was a great day to shine and show the world that come Crit day Colavita|Bianchi will be a dominate powerhouse, having selfless teammates willing to always help deliver Erica Allar, one of the fastest women in the world. With only a three second time gap separating first and second place in the general classification (GC) the racing started off fast and furious. Two mid-race time bonuses kept the speeds high and ultimately changed the final standings in the GC. In the closing laps, several riders attempted attacks to disrupt the final sprint finish. Colavita|Bianchi was active in keeping these attacks under control which paid off as the team was able to set up Allar with a clean line for the sprint resulting in an incredible 3rd place finish!
