Cervelo and MTN-Qhubeka has gone all out for the African team’s debut at the Tour de France.

Today, they have revealed the special edition Cervélo bikes that MTN-Qhubeka p/b Samsung will ride at this year’s Tour de France. All three models in use by Team MTN-Qhubeka, the S5, R5 and P5, have all seen the artistic hand of Tom Briggs, Senior Graphic Designer at Cervélo. Two other special edition items that will be seen on the new models are the ROTOR Q-Rings for Qhubeka as well as a sparkling new custom coloured KMC frictionless chains.

Briggs explains from where the inspiration came to design these 3 masterpieces:

“The gradient lines on the front of the bikes are the heat waves cutting through the sunrise in South Africa. On the top tubes of the three different models you will find the three English translations of Qhubeka, ‘Move Forward’ on the S5, ‘Carry On’ on the R5 and ‘Progress’ on the P5.”

“On the bottom of the downtube on the S5 you will find the 5 colours that make up the South African flag, this exists on all the other models as well. We chose to use chrome on the bikes so that everyone could see themselves as part of the Qhubeka foundation and as part of the team itself. So no matter which bike you’re looking at, it all comes back to Qhubeka itself,” concludes Briggs.
