Gage Hecht and his teammates on the Alpha Bicycle Company-Vista Subaru Cycling Elite Development team have had a successful cyclocross season to date on their Moots bikes with numerous wins in both UCI Junior and Open categories. The team’s sights now turn to the 2016 USA Cycling’s Cyclocross Nationals in Asheville, NC and the 2016 UCI World Cyclocross Championships in Heusden-Zolder, Belgium.
In addition to 17 year old Hecht, the team is comprised of teen athletes from Colorado’s Front Range and Park City, UT including:
Evan Clouse (racing age 16) – Park City, UT
Katie Clouse (racing age 14) – Park City, UT
Brannan Fix (racing age 18) – Fort Collins, CO
Ashley Zoerner (racing age 16) – Highlands Ranch, CO
Hecht leads the team with eight wins and two second place finishes in the last ten events entered. Six of those wins were in the Men’s Open category, most recently at the Rocky Mountain Cyclocross Championships in Longmont, CO.
Evan Clouse shared the podium with Gage at the Rocky Mountain Cyclocross Championships, taking third. In his last ten races, Clouse has seven top-ten finishes, three in Men’s Open.
Evan’s sister Katie Clouse, has raced to eight first place and four second place finishes since September, all in Women’s Open or the Cat Pro/1/2/3/4 (Katie is a Cat 3) field.
Brannan Fix had two top-twenty UCI finishes at Jingle Cross in Men’s Elite and placed 22nd in the Men’s Pro category. In Novemeber, Fix had two Men’s U23 19-22 UCI third place podiums at the CXLA Weekend in Long Beach, CA. The following weekend he won the Men’s Open at SoCo Parker Cross, in Parker, CO.
Ashley Zoerner competed at Jingle Cross finishing 22nd and 24th in UCI Women’s Elite 32nd in Pro. Zoerner started November placing 10th at the Pan Am Championships (Women U23). At the end of the month she took fourth in the Women’s Open at SoCo Parker Cross, in Parker, CO.
Moots is one of the team’s equipment sponsors providing frames, stems and seat posts to the athletes through the 2016/2017 cyclocross race season. All five team members train and compete on either a Moots Pscyhlo X RSL or Pscyhlo X. The frames are disc compatible, feature a Press Fit 30 bottom bracket along with front and rear thru axles for performance and increased stiffness.
“Moots couldn’t be more proud of these young athletes,” said Jon Cariveau, Moots marketing manager. “Each one is focused on training, dedicating hours and hours on and off the bike, determined to be the best athlete at the start line, on course and at the finish. These young athletes represent the present and the future of cycling. Their recent, and frequent podium appearances are garnering national and international attention. We are excited to play a role in their success.”
To date the team has attended and placed well at the Pan American Championships, US National Championships, Rocky Mountain Championships, Colorado’s local race series, and select European races.
