Team TIBCO-Silicon Valley Bank will kick off the 2016 season rocking new kit colors and a new team name in Argentina this weekend at the Tour de San Luis Feminin.
Formerly called Team TIBCO-SVB, the team name this year is Team TIBCO-Silicon Valley Bank, same sponsor but spelled in full to recognize the significant contribution of the bank, said Linda Jackson, team founder and owner.
Lauren Stephens will be looking to improve upon her second-place overall at the 2015 edition of the Tour Femenino de San Luis. Stephens also collected a win on the stage 4 individual time trial last year. The six-stage race starts Jan. 10 and ends Jan. 15.
Ed Beamon will helm the six-woman squad contesting the race in Argentina. In his second year as Team TIBCO-Silicon Valley Bank general manager and sport director, Beamon noted that Stephens was only 3 seconds behind the first-place finisher last year.
“Of course we will be seriously motivated to improve on that result,” Beamon said. “The stage 4 time trial gives Lauren a great platform to set the bar, but we really need to be diligent leading up to that stage and cannot afford mistakes or bad luck.”
The race will include a stage with a mountaintop finish and a field of 140 talented riders. Team TIBCO-Silicon Valley Bank, however, has more cards to play this year given the roster additions of Brianne Walle, Lauren Hall and Lauren Komanski, who are all racing in Argentina.
“I think we have a stronger team than last year and the excitement level is at a peak,” Beamon said. “The girls are getting along so well and I think really happy to be racing together. I can’t wait for the fun to begin.”
In addition to the new, distinctively vibrant blue and green Team TIBCO-Silicon Valley Bank kits, Jackson has added several new sponsors, including DF Investments; SanDisk, a global leader in flash memory storage solutions; and Terun Pizzeria, the hottest restaurant in Palo Alto, California.
Team TIBCO-Silicon Valley Bank roster for Tour de San Luis Femenin:

• Brianna Walle
• Kendall Ryan
