Updated 7/7/16 – Oakley has expanded the line to include the Team Dimension Data kit and cycling cap.
——————————————————————————————————————
Oakley has a history of producing a special line up to celebrate the Tour de France and have released their 2016 line, all of which feature their PRIZM lenses. The Jawbreakers, Radar EV Path, and Turbine are included, along with replica kit, cycling cap, a special replica kit t-shirt for Team Dimension Data.
The Jawbreakers and Radar EV both feature Oakley’s Road PRIZM lenses, which are specifically designed to enhance your vision on the road. Instead of the normal PRIZM logo on the lens, a special Tour de France logo marks the occasion. The Turbine includes the PRIZM Daily Polarized lens for all day comfort.
The Jawbreakers, as seen on riders like Peter Sagan and Mark Cavendish, was created to provide a full frame sunglass with an easily interchangeable lens. The field of view has been extended above and below the eyes to provide clear vision when riding in an aggressive position. Oakley’s Unobtanium earsocks and nosepad keep the Jawbreakers in place and increase their grip as you sweat. The temples are also adjustable in length to customize your fit with your helmet. SwitchLock technologies makes for quick and easy lens changes. The Jawbreakers are available in polished white with red trim and a custom dot fade graphic along the top. Look for a full review coming soon for a pair we custom made at a local Oakley store.
The Radar EV continues the extended field of vision with a taller lens and frame than traditional Radars. The full team yellow frame with white icons, features a special fade graphic along the top of the lens. The Radar EV also features Unobtanium earsocks and nosepiece to help keep them in place. The lenses are interchangeable, but are not quite as easy as the Jawbreaker’s SwitchLock system.
The Turbine is a lifestyle sunglass with interchangeable lenses. The glasses provide full coverage for your eyes while you are off the bike. The matte dark gray celebrates the sprinters jersey with green accents on the temples and Unobtanium earsocks, or will match well with the Dimension Data t-shirt.
As for the t-shirt, it is a slim fit, 100% cotton shirt with the team’s sponsors logos applied to mimic the team kit. The shirts will be available as a limited edition. Look for a few other items coming out soon to pair up with the shirt.
Oakley has also posted the replica team kit (jersey and bibs) and cycling cap of Team Dimension Data. The club cut kits feature the look of the kits Cav has worn to now three wins so far, but it does not mention if they are produced by the same supplier, or if Oakley is making them themselves. The jersey features all of the things you want in a typical cycling jeresy, full-zip front zipper, three rear pockets, rear gripper to keep the jersey down, and lightweight breathable fabric. Sizes shown are XS-XXLThe bibs seem to be pretty standard as well, with sizing from S-XXL. The cap is a poly/cotton blend, with elastic in the back to keep it one-size fits most.
