Italian component manufacturer fi’z:k continues to expand beyond saddles with a new line of cockpit components shaped and sized in line with their Spine Concept fitting system.
fi’z:k’s Spine Concept classifies riders into three broad fit categories (Snake, Chameleon and Bull) based on the spine flexibility of the rider. Originally focused on saddle fit, the concept has now been applied to their new cockpit line – especially the handlebars.
The handlebars are part of the new Cyrano line. Bars, like saddles, will be slotted into three fit models with the Snake bar being a traditional looking deep-drop bar and the Chameleon and Bull models looking more like modern ergo bars. All three lines will offer both aluminum and carbon bars in widths from 40 to 46 centimeters.
The seatpost line consists of 4 models that range from the basic aluminum R5 to the unidirectional carbon 00. Strangely, all models feature 25mm of setback. I know that a lot of cyclists tune their position on the bike using straight or setback posts, so I’m surprised that both options weren’t presented.
Finally, there are the stems. There are no carbon fiber options here, just two aluminum stems, though the higher spec R1 model does feature titanium hardware. Lengths from 80 to 130mm are available with 7 and 20 degree stem angles.
