De Rosa SK Pinanfarina models win Hyper Velo prize at Eurobike

  • Ron

The 100% Made in Italy De Rosa SK Pininfarina Luxury and the De Rosa SK Pininfarina Disc models recently received first place in the prestigious Hyper Velo Awards for 2016/2017 at Eurobike, not only for the first class luxury they embody but also for the innovative disc brake system of the Disc model.

The De Rosa SK Pininfarina is the epitome of the two year collaboration between De Rosa and Pininfarina – two ambassadors of Italian style, luxury and technological innovation. The SK Luxury and the SK Disc are the latest additions to the line.

De Rosa SK Pinanfarina Luxury

The SK Luxury was developed with exclusive details – triple layer paint, non-slip textured handlebar and saddle, a drive train created with Zero Friction technology – that De Rosa believes to surpass the expectations of the most discerning buyer. The colors – Black Caviar, Diamond Silver, Pininfarina Blue – bring the words “understated elegance” immediately to mind.

As with many true luxury products, the SK De Rosa comes with luxury accessories: namely the SK De Rosa suitcase – luggage designed and built specifically to carry the SK in safety with style, and the Body-Bike, sewn with the same single needle stitching found in the highest quality tailored clothing which, when combined, all quietly and humbly say “Made in Italy”.

De Rosa CEO Cristiano De Rosa worked with the Pininfarina Design Center on the case, which was ultimately produced in cooperation with technical clothing company Castelli.

“As soon as we conceived of and began to create the De Rosa SK Pininfarina we immediately realized that this would be a project for the long-term”, says Cristiano De Rosa, Chief Executive Officer of De Rosa Bikes. “The current offerings are the result of our process of very detailed planning, research and development that provides us the framework with which we incubate and develop ideas that will continually generate innovative solutions for the future”.

“In the De Rosa SK Pininfarina Luxury we have created new milestones in design, technology, luxury and the use of innovative materials which, in combination, have also created a single innovative milestone” said Paolo Pininfarina, President of the Pininfarina Group.

“In De Rosa we have found and extraordinary partner with whom we are creating an entirely new world geared specifically for the discerning cyclist who loves the combination of Italian styling and performance.”

De Rosa SK Pininfarina Disc

The second entry in the SK Class for 2017 is the De Rosa SK Pininfarina Disc which, for the first time, offers a disc brake system. While the current drive train is manufactured by Shimano, De Rosa is expecting that Campagnolo will be offering their version of a disc brake system very soon. The De Rosa SK Pininfarina Disc is designed for the cyclist who enjoys the versatility and other alternative solutions, including stopping power, offered by disc brakes.

De Rosa SK Pininfarina, one of the top selling bikes in Europe in 2016, has been well regarded by the cycling press, having won the absolute first prize awarded by Hyper Velo for the 2016/2017 model year, where a panel of experts under the Chairmanship of the famous French champion Bernard Thévenet, gave awards to 9 of the 120 bikes tested this year by the magazine Acheteur Cycliste.

In March the De Rosa SK Pininfarina also won in the category Sports and Leisure of the Born Awards.

Technical Specifications

De Rosa SK Pininfarina is the perfect combination of style and performance, where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. It is designed for cyclists who yearn for a bike that merges Italian luxury styling and design with details driven by individually developed aerodynamic design.

The frame is carbon fiber printed using innovative technology and inner mold tolling; the complete bike weighs in at 6.7kg; performance is completely limitless. De Rosa SK Pininfarina can be built with mechanical or electronic components, as desired by its owner, and is available nationally and internationally immediately. The De Rosa frame is optimal for both competitive racers as well as performance driven cyclists and may be ridden with great success in triathlon.

The perfect mix of high modulus carbon and hand-treated fibers in the De Rosa production department provide the ideal stiffness without compromising stability or comfort.

To reduce aerodynamic drag De Rosa provides a variety of technological solutions including: an internal cabling system, full integration, an 86.5mm bottom bracket and 1 1/8 and 1 1⁄4 steering.

The revolutionary inner mold tooling helps De Rosa achieve the best possible combination of frame rigidity and lightness due to the high precision of the three- dimensional printing process and the use of a specific resin.

The De Rosa SK Pininfarina frame is available in eight sizes as well as four colors that reflect the concept of the four primary elements, one of De Rosa’s primary inspirations in developing the bike’s aerodynamics: white (Air), blue (Water), fire (Red), and black (Earth). We have also created two, two-tone versions: fire red / black and white / sea blue.
