From USA Cycling:
Team USA earned another medal at the Pan American Continental Road Championships in the Dominican Republic on Saturday as Skylar Schneider (West Allis, Pa./ISCorp Powered by Progress Software) was third in the elite women’s road race.
Schneider collected the bronze after following first- and second-place finishers Paola Andrea Munoz (CHI) and Wellyda Regisleyne Dos Santos (BRA) across the line in the sprint finish at the end of the 90-kilometer contest. The American’s result also placed her second in the U23 women’s rankings.
Schneider’s sister, Samantha Schneider (West Allis, Wis./ISCorp Powered By Progress Software), was the next to finish for the USA, completing the event in ninth place. Friday’s time trial gold medalist Chloe Dygert (Bremerton, Wash./Sho-Air TWENTY20) was 42nd, Alison Tetrick (Petaluma, Calif./Cylance Pro Cycling) was 46th, and Friday’s time trial silver medalist Tayler Wiles (Fairfax, Calif./United Healthcare Pro Cycling) was 47th.
The road race bronze medal was the fourth elite medal for Team USA at the continental championships. Dygert punched her ticket to Worlds with a win in the time trial on Friday, Wiles was second in the time trial, and Ian Garrison (Decatur, Ga./Axeon Hagens Berman) earned silver in the men’s time trial.
