MET Helmets announced the release of an all-new all-mountain helmet today – the Roam.
The Roam is MET’s latest entry for the all mountain crowd and is the latest reflection of their passion for adventure and dedication to rider safety.
Available in stores in September 2017, the Roam features EPS construction with a full polycarbonate shell to increase both durability and rider protection. The inner padding of the helmet is designed specifically for the all mountain crowd, with additional contact surfaces to add in stability of the helmet on the head, all without disturbing airflow across and around the rider’s head.
The Roam also adds additional protection for the back of the head and temples without sacrificing weight.
The Roam is also MET’s first helmet to feature their all-new SAFE-T orbital retention system. Rather than just relying on an ‘all around’ belt to adjust fit, the Roam adds three positions of vertical adjustment and two positions of occipital adjustment. Two thermoplastic pads ease pressure on the skull of the rider.
22 vents across the surface of the helmet all work to keep the rider cool, while three main airflow chambers keep the air moving.
Special attention was paid to the visor. Where a too-stiff visor can actually pose a danger to the rider in crashes and one that is too soft can rattle around, MET worked with their pro riders to develop with a flexible injection-molded visor that is the best of both worlds.
Recognizing that the all-mountain crowd tends to wear goggles, the Roam was designed with built in goggle strap holders. It also rocks construction for strap mounting an action camera (gotta upload those edits!).
A special MIPS edition with a low friction layer will release at the same time.
The MET Roam will be available in stores in September 2017.
