Now that the Tour is behind us, it looks like the UCI is back to getting some approvals out, and there are quite a few.
Canyon looks to be launching a carbon version of their Inflite cyclocross bike. Interestingly though, it is listed as a road bike, so could this be a gravel bike for the brand? From the picture below that was leaked inadvertently in a Red Dot award press release earlier this year (Best of the Best 2017 Award), the kink at the seat tube/top tube junction looks to be ideal for shouldering and should dampen the ride a little, so the bike could pull double duty for cross or gravel. Other features look to include an integrated chain watcher for a 1x drivetrain, integrated bar/stem (something not usually seen in cross), thru-axels front and rear, and tidy internal cable routing.
Cipollini adds a disc brake version of the NK1K on the heels of announcing the new RB1K The One in the previous release. Though imagery is not updated, the site does state that it is available in direct mount rim or disc brake.
Factor see’s their premium road race machine, the O2, approved in disc brake form. Keep an eye out for AG2R to possibly use it in the fall classics events.
On the wheel side, Bola Pro and Rolling Stone continue the trend of Chinese and Taiwanese brands getting their UCI certification to help increase their prominance. Australian brands, Craftworx and TLR, see’s approval for three of their models each.
Three big names also gain approval for wheels, Enve, Shimano, and Zipp. Three versions of the SES 3.4 are now approved, including clincher and disc models. Shimano has one wheelset, the RS500, and Zipp adds 454 NSW in tubular disc and clincher, and the new 858 NSW clincher. This is the SRAM owned brand’s first move to a larger NSW wheel from the 454.
