The Rouleur Classic road cycling exhibition, which opened yesterday in London, played host today to the official presentation of the newly-sealed partnership between Trek-Segafredo and Santini Cycling Wear. The Italian technical cycling clothing company will be dressing the team from 2018 onwards.
In 2018, Trek-Segafredo will number 28 athletes of 18 different nationalities, including German classics rider John Degenkolb and Italian all-rounder Fabio Felline, both of whom took part in today’s official presentation in London.
Luca Guercilena, General Manager of Trek-Segafredo: “Over the past 50 years, Santini has built up such an invaluable wealth of expertise and knowledge that has made it an international benchmark for technical cycling apparel. But of course, the technical part is only one thing, the service they can provide us with is another crucial part of this partnership. Santini knows what it takes to be the technical clothing partner of a World Tour team, racing around the globe in all sorts of weather conditions. Right from the start we sensed they are able to anticipate our needs, to individualize where needed and to deliver quickly. Therefore, I am confident this partnership will be very successful.”
“We are extremely proud that a team of as high a level as Trek-Segafredo has chosen us,” declared Paola Santini, marketing manager at Santini Cycling Wear, “because it appreciates the technical prowess and quality of our clothing, which can meet the needs of racing cyclists both in training and competition.”
The partnership will span the supply of all technical and casual clothing which will be designed specifically for the team’s members: “This isn’t a new development for us: our company has a long history of ‘dressing’ professional teams,” commented Monica Santini, CEO of Santini Cycling Wear. “Thanks to our Bergamo production line’s signature flexibility in terms of both timelines and personalization of each garment to individual athletes, we will be able to cater the needs of the Trek-Segafredo team to the nth degree.”
Of the garments supplied for testing in the field by the Trek-Segafredo team, the athletes were particularly impressed by the Impact bib shorts which have Sitip fabric inserts that incorporate tear and abrasion-resistant Dyneema® fibers. The same fabric was also selected for the development of the road race skin suit that will be supplied to the entire team.
The new Trek-Segafredo team clothing by Santini will be presented in December 2017 and in stores for sale in January 2018.
