Big Year, New Home for Van Dessel

To say it has been a big year for Van Dessel, well, that would be an understatement. Not only has sales grown considerably, but they have launched new and updated models, and now they are in a new headquarters and warehouse in Parsippany, NJ.

For more details on the new digs, check out the press release below. We should be getting our new Full Tilt Boogie and Motivus Maximus in the coming weeks, and are super excited to throw a leg over both ahead of the spring gravel season. Both will have Mavic’s Speed Release thru-axel system, among some other updates inside and out. Stay tuned for more details.

Van Dessel Cycles has seen nearly 40% growth in sales during 2017. A year in which the New Jersey-based bicycle company also introduced three new models, the A.D.D, the Gnarzan, the Whiskey Tango Foxtrot 853 Ltd., and reintroduced one of the brand’s most sought after models, the Country Road Bob.

This success isn’t exactly unexpected. Since partnering with Kent International, Van Dessel finally has some much needed support. “Kent has been very important in supporting and backing our efforts, not just so we can produce new models, but to provide better service to our growing IBD base,” noted Van Dessel VP of Sales and Development, Robert Vander Veur. “We’ve increased our outside sales force with eight new reps. Hardly a sales army like larger brands, but we can begin providing our dealers with the attention they deserve.”

Van Dessel also outgrew their current headquarters and warehouse at the same time the lease there was expiring. “We started looking for a new location when Kent offered to open up warehousing and office space for us at a rate we couldn’t pass up,” stated Van Dessel President, Edwin Bull. And with that, Van Dessel relocated to Kent’s Parsippany N.J. headquarters. “It’s great having Van Dessel in-house,” said Scott Kamler, President of Kent International. “We’re happy to offer any assistance we can, fulfillment, warehousing, art needs — we’re here to support their growth and keep the brand moving forward.”

When asked how the move affects the day-to-day, Bull said, “It makes complete sense to be under the same roof since Kent provides key services for us. And that leaves us to focus on our bikes and on our dealers. So we’re more streamlined here. And after the year we just had, we’re really looking forward to next year. It’s pretty exciting!”
