We slacked a bit through Thanksgiving and December getting you the updates on the UCI Approved list, but here is what came up since our last update in Mid-November.
DT Swiss drops a bomb and adds nine wheels to the list, with Miche adding four, and Pro-Lite adding a cryptic one.
DT Swiss add wheels from their Endurance and Performance lines, discernible by the E and P designations. The additional R and C’s in the name stand for Road, and Carbon. Additionally, the numbers correspond to the depth of the wheels, and if you haven’t guessed it yet, the DB refers to disc brake and RB is rim brake. Dicut vs Spline tells you which hubs the wheels are built off of. All are clinchers, and all disc brake versions use centerlock discs. Rim widths vary by model, and all use either DT Swiss’ 240 or 350 hubs. Check out the list below for the details.
Miche adds a handful of aluminum wheels to their list. The Cross Tube DX is pretty self explanatory. It’s a cyclocross focused tubular wheelset. The centerlock disc brake wheels are 24mm tall and 19mm wide, and are said to target 25-32mm wide tires, which is a little narrow for cyclocross. The Graff is also a centerlock disc wheelset, but in clincher format. Aimed at cyclocross, it can also pull double duty on the road and gravel. The Syntium AXY and DX are rim and centerlock disc brake respectively. These clinchers are not quite as wide as the Graff, and are targeted at road racing and training.
Pro-Lite’s first addition to the list is rather puzzling. “Prototype Racing Parts” doesn’t tell us much. With no hints at a potential model, besides rim depth and spoke count, we’ll keep an eye out for future updates.
