When it comes to pumps and tools, Silca crafts some of the swankiest around. Especially since the Italian brand was sold to former Zipp technical director Joshua Poertner, the brand has expanded from high-end, high-quality pumps to other tools and bags. Their new venture is the Sicuro titanium bottle cage.
The Sicuro has been in development for over a year now and will be available later this summer (early-August). Silca is currently wrapping up preparations to start production runs.
This isn’t your standard metal tubed bottle cage though. The welds, which are limited to joining the mounting plate to the cage itself, are laser welded, an aerospace method that is new to the cycling industry. The mounting place has extended bolt eyelets to allow an even greater range of mounting adjustment to fit a wide variety of frame sizes and mounting locations. The titanium is aerospace grade and comes with a 25-year warranty. Beyond that, there isn’t a whole lot of info on the cage yet. Production will be done at their Indianapolis, IN facility.
