HydraPak announces new technologies & redesigned reservoirs for 2019

  • Ron

Since launching reservoir systems to the market in 2001, HydraPak® has grown to become the largest OEM hydration brand globally. For Spring 2019, HydraPak is launching activity-specific hydration systems with added high performance features, improved design, and a first-to-market insulated reservoir – IsoBoundâ„¢ Technology – which keeps fluids colder 38% longer compared to a standard reservoir.

Built for performance, the re-designed reservoir system is engineered to be more reliable, simpler to use, and provide 20% more flow without added weight, additional parts or compromising the simplicity of the slide closure, the wide fill top design, or the reversibility of the reservoir. Updated performance features include:

  • Updated patented Slider Topâ„¢ has a smoother profile to prevent chaffing and new grip feature for leverage when sliding open/closed
  • New Dual FlexGripâ„¢ technology increases flexibility of opening and makes it easier to fill, carry, and access in a pack
  • Plug-N-Playâ„¢ Connector re-engineered for a more minimal profile – 1/3 slimmer – flush edge button features a fully shrouded clip to prevent accidental activation
  • Blasterâ„¢ Bite Valve redesigned with a taller, more ergonomic, twist on/off bar for a smooth rotation, and a reduced profile Dust Cover offers less bulk
  • Hose barb technology re-engineered to allow for 20% faster flow rate

The activity-specific design updates to the Velocity 1.5L (MSRP $32), Shape-Shift 2L/3L (MSRP $36/$38), and Force 2L/3L (MSRP $40/$43) reservoirs provide a more intuitive user experience for quick access, rapid refills, and a lightweight fit. In addition, HydraPak launches its new IsoBoundâ„¢ insulation technology in the Velocity 1.5L IT (MSRP $38) reservoir. The 1.5L reservoir is the ideal size to easily integrate into any cycling pack with hydration compatibility.

HydraPak IsoBoundâ„¢ is the first insulated reservoir on the market, and prevents latent heat (or more specifically, condensational warming) keeping water at an ideal temperature longer. The double-wall construction and open cell foam technology create a barrier around the reservoir keeping fluids cooler 38% longer compared to a standard reservoir. HydraPak IsoBoundâ„¢ slows the heat transfer from the user to the hydration, making it an ideal solution for riding on hot days. Compatible with the Hydrafusionâ„¢ Tube (sold separately), a durable and lightweight drink tube with built-in insulation to keep your water cooler in hot temperatures and a dust cover to keep dirt off the bite valve on rides.

Also of interest to cyclists, especially bikepackers, should be the Stash line of collapsible water bottles. With capacities up to 1L, they can hold the water needed at a campsite, but when not needed, collapse down to a very packable size.

Brand partners expanding their hydration product line for riding in Spring 2019 include Dakine®,
Evoc®, Shimano®, Thule®, and Osprey®.
