Neko Mulally donates custom World Championship bike to get more kids riding

  • Ron

Professional DH racer Neko Mulally has donated his 2018 World Championships YT Industries bike to be raffled off for Can’d Aid’s Treads + Trails program.

The raffle benefits Can’d Aid’s people powered do-goodery efforts through the Treads + Trails program, which has built more than 2,200 bicycles for underprivileged youth, restored miles of multi-use trails and works to get people outside enjoying active lifestyles. Yep, you read that right. Enter the raffle and kids will win, even if you don’t. (But, we have our fingers crossed that you win, too!)

Neko, a YT Industries professional mountain bike racer, worked with YT to design the bike to be unlike any other in the world. “Can I buy some tickets to win this bike back?” Neko joked. “The artwork on my Mob Edition bike is so cool! It’s an honor to have YT go above and beyond to make this special bike to race. The plan was to make some good memories racing it at the world champs in Switzerland, but a broken hand kept me out of the race. It’s awesome to see all the hard work of my sponsors go to benefit such a good cause as Can’d Aid. I’m proud to be able to help out.”

In addition to the raffle, Neko is partnered with Can’d Aid to host a bike clinic for kids aged 8-14 in Boulder, Colorado, at the Valmont Bike Park on October 19. For more details and to sign up, visit www.candaid.org. Neko has hosted bike clinics with Can’d Aid in North Carolina, but this will be the first clinic he’s offered in Colorado.

“Most of the kids who receive bikes from our Treads + Trails program attend Title I, low-income schools,” explains Diana Ralston, Can’d Aid’s Executive Director. “The raffle entries will directly benefit these elementary students. We rally communities to build the bicycles then surprise the students with new bikes and helmets. For many of the kids, this bike is the first new item they have ever received.”

To enter the raffle and learn more about the bike, head to the Can’d Aid site. While a single ticket is $20, why stop there? Additional ticket packages are available, all the way up to 100 tickets for $500 and second and third place prizes are up for grabs as well, from Fox Racing.

The custom YT Mob Edition bike will be on display between the Oskar Blues Brevard Tasty Weasel Taproom and the Oskar Blues Boulder Taproom from now until the time of the raffle; plus, you can see photos of the bike here. Oskar Blues is a proud sponsor of Neko’s racing endeavors and a long-time Can’d Aid Foundation supporter.

The raffle winner will be chosen on Friday, November 9.
