LEM Helmets, manufacturer of innovative, stylish, and performance cycling head protection for road, mountain, commute, and kids, today announces its continued sponsorship of talented UCI pro women’s cycling team BePink. Continuing the success of its 2019 partnership, for 2020 the BePink team expands its roster with new team riders, and will be wearing a collection of LEM helmets – including the new, lightweight Motiv™Air.
“We are very excited to start this new season and to have the very important sponsorship of LEM Helmets again this year. The brand means quality, technology, and safety, and we are very happy that our riders can ride another year with these beautiful, high-performance products,” said Walter Zini, BePink’s Team Manager. “We are grateful to LEM for its continued support in 2020 and we are sure that, together, we will be able to celebrate important results.”
During the 2019 season, the Team competed around the world, participating in elite races including: Santos Tour Down Under, Strade Bianche, Trofeo Binda, Ronde van Vlaanderen, Tour of California, Colorado Classic, La Flèche Wallonne Féminine, and Giro Rosa. The team celebrated a number of podium finishes and positive results throughout the year. BePink also earned the gold medal in the Italian Derny Championship, and the bronze medal in the European Mixed Relay Championship – with “azzurra” Silvia Valsecchi as a member of the Italian track selection team.
With a younger team of athletes, the 2019 season offered these riders the chance to grow as racers and young woman, while gaining experience on the international stage. Last season also gave the veterans on the team the opportunity to mentor young athletes on the qualities of the team, and the importance of achieving goals together.
The team starts the 2020 season on January 16 at the four-stage, 238-mile Santos Tour Down Under which finishes in Adelaide, Australia. The BePink squad racing includes: Grace Anderson (NZ), Simona Frapporti (ITA), Markéta Hájková (CZ), Silvia Valsecchi (ITA), Melissa Van Neck (CZ), and Silvia Zanardi (ITA). After its racing in Australia, the team will head back to Europe to continue the season racing in UCI and women’s world tour events throughout the year.
Anderson and Hájková will be making their debuts with the team and are new riders for the 2020 season who, collectively, will add depth to the squad. Also joining BePink this year is standout climber Valentina Landuzzi from Bologna.
The Team will be racing in LEM’s new MotivAir helmet in a limited edition pink colorway. Featuring the brand’s proprietary exoCarbon™ technology that has an unmatched strength-to-weight ratio and improved oblique and rotational impact management, the high-performance MotivAir weighs 220 grams (size M) and has a full-carbon exterior shell and low-density EPS foam. This keeps weight down, increases the strength, and maximizes vents for cooling without compromising integrity.
Additionally, the Team will also race in the new Motiv™Aero TT helmet with superior lens optics and a removable magnetic tail for rider customization, the lightweight Gavia with 27 vents and a custom fit system, and the Volata which features an aero design for a streamlined, comfortable feel.
“We’re excited to head into our second year of partnership with BePink and support the talented team at races around the world in 2020. The MotivAir is the perfect choice for the team’s pursuits, and the additional helmet models offer a great head protection quiver for the season,” said Keith Cozzens, Global Brand Marketing Director at LEM. “We look forward to building off our relationship and success of 2019 with everyone involved in the professional organization, and grow our collaborative partnership with a focus on providing high-performance helmets for the Team.”
