PNW introduces Coast Bar & Stem

  • Ron

Accessories manufacturer PNW Components has released the Coast Drop Bar & Stem, a wide gravel bar matched with a shorter stem to optimize performance for drop-bar gravel bikes.

The Coast bar ($69 USD) will be available in 48cm and 52cm widths – considerably wider than the average road bar – and will feature a 20° flare, 65mm of reach and a drop of 120mm, all aimed at creating more comfort and control for the gravel set. Informed by the trend towards wider MTB bars, the combination of a wider bar with a shorter stem and shallower drop provides ergonomic relief to the wrists and neck.

These are bars that you can pump while sprinting, drop into while cruising, and handle the hoods with agility and ease. Now, shape and ergonomics aren’t the only important things—material is key. We opted for a 6061 alloy to control vibrations while remain light and nimble. Like a ski with a snappy core that pops and carves at the slightest intention, these bars use the unique dimensions and ideal material to give you playful freedom. Like any good burrito…width is important.

The Coast stem ($69 USD) comes in lengths of 60 to 100mm in 10mm increments and has a 7° rise. The front plate of the stem features a detachable mount that is compatible with many cycling lights as well as a GoPro. The shorter stem, in tandem with a comfortable 7° rise, places your body in an ideal position for comfort while remaining aggressive.
