Next up for Sea Otter Play is Kogel Bearings. They are a premium bearing brand out of Texas. They offer wheel bearings, bottom brackets, pulley wheels, and the Kolossos oversized pulley wheel system. For the show, they are highlighting their new Kolossos customizer, their new Campagnolo 12 Speed EPS Kolossos, an anodized crank preload adjuster, and a new PF30A bottom bracket.
Starting with the Kolossos customizer, this new program allows you to mix and match colors to create your unique Kolossos. Upper and lower pulley wheels, inner and outer cages, pulley dust caps, pin, and screws can all be customized to your liking. Colors available are black, blue, red, gold, and raw (silver). Add in your choice of standard or race prep bearings, and there are over 24,000 configurations. The Custom Kolossos is usually $439, but currently on sale for $399.99 ($10 more for Race Prep bearings, $100 more for a second set of pulley wheels). They are available for SRAM Red and Force eTap AXS, Shimano Dura-Ace 9100, Ultegra 8000, GRX, RX800, and now…
The newest addition to the Kolossos line is Campagnolo 12 Speed EPS. At the time of launch, it will only be available in black, red, and gold, but it will be an option in the customizer soon. The Kolossos adds one of the stiffest cages on the market to your rear derailleur, along with larger upper and lower pulley wheels. Add in the ceramic bearings and the friction savings of the larger pulleys, and you have a pretty nice upgrade to your rear derailleur that reduces friction while still keeping shifting crisp. Along with the other standard versions of the Kolossos, the Campy version is $399.
Next up is their anodized crank preload adjuster. If you have a SRAM crankset, there is a chance you have a plastic preload adjuster for the bottom bracket. You spend all that money on a crankset and bottom bracket, yet you are using a plastic bit to space it out correctly. While it works, how about a little bit of bling? The preload adjuster is made from aluminum and comes in gold, red, blue, black, and raw. Keep an eye out for it on Kogel’s website next month.
The last new item is their PF30A bottom brackets for Cannondale SuperSix and SystemSix. It includes options for Shimano, Rotor, GXP, and 386 cranksets. Their bottom brackets are available in two setups, road and cross. Both use Kogel’s ceramic bearings, but the cross adds some heavier duty seals that are more appropriate for cyclocross, gravel, or if you ride in harsh, wet climates. PF30A bottom brackets are running $199.99 and are currently only available in black.
