Happening August 23 – 26, 2021, the stages of Gravel Royale will take riders on secluded gravel roads through the Canadian Rocky Mountains, traditional home to the Ktunaxa Nation Indiginous people.
The TranksRockies Gravel Royale travels through the Kootenay mountains in southeastern British Columbia between the Columbia river and the Continental divide which is the homeland to the Ktunaxa First Nations people. The Ktunaxa have ancient ties to this land and a language that is unique to this territory. The TransRockies Gravel Royale travels through land of the Akisqnuk First Nation (Place to two lakes) of nearly 300 people whose council meets in Windermere, BC.
The team over at TransRockies is committed to sharing the stories of the Ktunaxa Nation throughout this event. TransRockies will be working with local tribal leaders to give participants the opportunity to learn the history of the gravel roads they are racing on.
