The Tour de France kicked off today under wet conditions as riders raced around Copenhagen, Denmark in Stage 1’s individual time trial. Many of the favorites chose early start times, but as the day progressed, the weather forecast proved to be inaccurate, allowing riders later in the day to see slightly less trecherous conditions on the 8 mile city circuit. Quick Step-Alpha Vinyl’s Yves Lampaert took the win with a time of 15:17, with teammate Kasper Asgreen finishing 43rd at 0:48 seconds behind.
Below is a gallary of Asgreen’s Shiv TT, who also used the new TT5 helmet launched days before the start. Lampaert stuck with the brand’s previous helmet. The bike itself is made up with a host of Specialized products, from the frame to the TTS saddle, Turbo Cotton tires, and Roval wheelset. Shimano handles the shifting and braking with a Dura-ace Di2 build. For the flat course, Asgreen’s bike was equipped with a 58/46 crankset, and 11-32 cassette out back, providing plenty of range for Asgreen to hold the big ring on the small amount of elevation change throughout the course.
