If you have a Hammerhead Karoo 2, chances are, you don’t have a ton of different mounting options as you see from the likes of Garmin and Wahoo. That has changed with K-EDGE now offering out-front and over-the-stem mounts, along with inserts to retrofit some of the K-EDGE mounts you may already have.
Hammerhead uses a very different mount than other brands, the Hammerhead Mounting System, or HMS. Instead of a round, quarter-turn style mount, the Karoo 2 uses a teardrop shape that the computer slides onto and locks in. To take the computer off, you simply twist and slide forward. Before the new K-EDGE mounts, you were limited to their stock handlebar and TT style mounts, or you could use their quarter-turn adapters that slot into the back of the computer, and then work with quarter-turn style mounts. Not the most elegant, but it works.
“We are proud to work with Hammerhead to create the ideal adapter for converting K-EDGE’s
almost 50 unique mounts to the Hammerhead Mounting System,” said Eric Jensen, President of K-EDGE.
The new K-EDGE mounts build off of the brand’s Max XL and Boost Stem mounts. These CNC-machined aluminum mounts make for a stronger mount, built to withstand just about anything you can throw at it.
The Max XL base mount is built to take replaceable inserts that bolt into the end of the mount, allowing you to swap inserts with just two bolts. It has plenty of length to keep the large Karoo 2 computer forward of the bars, and a 31.8mm clamp fits most round road bars.
The Combo version adds a GoPro-style mount under the computer for your favorite action camera, light, or anything else you can mount up.
The Boost Stem Mount acts as a spacer above your stem and mounts the computer over the stem, perfect for mountain, gravel, and cyclocross bikes, or anyone that prefers to keep their computer back behind the bars. A 1cm rise and an adjustable angle helps you position it just where you want it.
Finally, if you have a compatible K-EDGE mount already, you can buy just the insert to convert it over to HMS. Multiple spacers and hardware are included to help you dial it in perfectly for your mount. This is perfect for integrated handlebars or TT setups.
Prices run from $52.99 for the Boost Stem Mount to $57.99 for the Max XL. Adding the lower mount on the Max XL Combo takes it up to $72.99. If you just need the inserts, they will only set you back $12.99.
The new mounts are available now on K-EDGE and Hammerhead‘s websites.
