Wahoo Overhauls ELEMNT Menu With “Ready To Ride” Update

Wahoo has been on a bit of a tear lately with launching new products and updates to current models. We covered the launch of the KICKR MOVE and KICKR BIKE SHIFT along with software updates like the addition of the Summit Free Ride feature. They aren’t done yet though, as a new menu screen is on the way for the brand’s latest computers, the BOLT V2 and ROAM V2. We’ll have a review of both computers (pre-Read to Ride) posting this week, but the new feature looks to make getting your ride started even easier.

The new Ready To Ride menus screen looks to make it even quicker and easier to get your ride started. Many of the areas of the new menu were included on the ELEMNT app and required the two to be linked. This doesn’t replace the ELEMNT app or that link, as the connection supports Live Tracking and allowing for notifications on the phone and upload after your ride, but you can now do more right from the computer itself.

The change comes from feedback from the Wahooligan nation as a means to make it quicker and easier to get to the features riders use most, including the sensor menu, route loading and electric drivetrain battery status. This optional menu you will see at start up allows you to get your route loaded quicker, check that sensors are paired, and even load planned workouts. You’ll also see data like GPS signal, WiFi status, phone connection, and time of day.

“A core pillar of Wahoo’s ethos is to help build the better athletes in all of us,” explains Chip Hawkins, Founder of Wahoo. “By listening to our users and offering new updates that meet their needs, we can continue to support their development as athletes and Wahooligans”.

The drivetrain battery charge feature is a nice addition, allowing you to see battery levels, even during your ride. If they get low enough, you’ll even get an alert at the end letting you now they need to be charged.

This is just the latest update that has come from Wahoo in the last 22 months. Many of the features revolve around Wahoo’s Summit, which as you can tell by the name, is all about climbing. Summit first added color coded grade graphs, a matching full color grade field, along with elevation remaining. A year ago, they added Summit Segments, which would alert you to a significant climb ahead, including the screen I dread seeing, “CLIMB!” at the beginning of each. Originally, this feature was only shown along planned routes, the Summit Freeride feature added this past May opened it up to all rides, routed or not.

Wahoo has also added integrations for CORE Body Temperature Sensors, Supersapiens Continuous Glucose Monitors, and Garmin Varia rear radars. Route sharing, outdoor workouts through Wahoo X, and off-road routes through Trailforks rounds out the major enhancements.

While Ready To Ride will be pushed to BOLT V2 and ROAM V2 units in the next update, while original BOLT and ROAM users will see a revised menu following the current look.
