Over the last few years, Tifosi has been refreshing their cycling line, adding models like the Sledge, Sledge Lite, and Rail that are all on point with the large lens trend. The Sledge is a fullish frame design, with the Sledge Lite removing that lower frame portion. The Rail is a frameless design, which leaves a spot for a model with just the lower portion of the frame. That’s where the new Stash comes in.
The new design features a frame that wraps around the bottom of the lens, wrapping up the sides to the temples. Â The frame provides support for the lens, while making it easy for quick lens changes. In an aggressive riding position, removing the upper portion of the frame help to aid in forward visibility when looking down the road. It also removes a little weight. At an overall width of 146.5mm, they feature a 120mm wide and 53mm tall lens. The adjustable temples are 120mm long. Tifosi says they are best suited for medium to large heads.
The frames are made from Grilamid TR-90, a material known for its flexibility and durability that you’ll find on many models from Tifosi and other brands. The Stash also features the same polycarbonate material used on Tifosi’s other models that is shatterproof and scratch-resistant. Some lenses will be available with their Clarion treatment, which helps repel moisture and sweat, while others will also include their Fototec technology that adjusts the tint automatically to ambient light. The nose and temple tips are adjustable to help you dial in the perfect fit, and use hydrophilic rubber to help keep them in place, even as you sweat. All of this helps keep the overall weight down to 34g.
At launch, the Stash will be available in four colors, Blackout (all black frames with a smoke lens), Race Pink (white/pink frame with Clarion Pink lens), Matte Smoke (translucent dark grey with white accents and Clarion Blue Fototec lens) and Matte Gunmetal (dark grey with black accent and Clarion Red Fototec lens). Blackout and Race Pink also come with Tifosi’s AC Red and clear lenses, providing options for lower light conditions. Each pair also comes with a ballistic case and microfiber cleaning/storage bag. At $79.95, Tifosi continues to be a brand we highly recommend. Not only do they provide great performance and clear optics, but they do it at a value, leaving you cash left for other upgrades, or maybe even another pair or two when compared to the likes of the Oakley Flight Jacket.
We’ll be adding the Stash to our spring rotation with the other Tifosi frames mentioned, and a few from Ekoi and some other brands. Look for reviews coming a little later in the spring once we have a chance to get some miles on them.
The Stash will be available on Monday, March 18th.
