Have you ever wondered how much you are sweating and whether or not your sport drink is keeping up with your needs? Infinit Nutrition can now help you determine both and get you set up with the right blend specifically for you. With the help of the Nix Biosensor, Infinit Performance Labs sets you up with a sports nutritionist to create your blend and a fueling strategy for your big event. They also have some new blends that boost the carbohydrates for those looking for more carbs per serving., and we have a 10% off code you can use on your next order.
We’ve previously covered the custom blend process here, so we won’t dive back into that topic, but being a numbers guy, Infinit Performance Labs helps me quantify that I’m getting the hydration and electrolytes that I need from my custom blends. Before, I’d go by feel and how salty my kit was, but using the Nix Biosensor and consulting with Infinit, the new data allows me to validate my custom blends and fueling strategy for hydration and electrolytes. This is something Infinit has always wanted to do, but had to wait for technology to catch up to allow customers to easily and accurately perform this testing at home.
That technology is here. The Nix Biosensor is a wearable device that tracks your sweat rates and electrolyte losses in real time, sending alerts to your phone, watch, or bike computer to tell you when, what, and how much to drink. The sensors attach to a single use kinesiology tape patch and collects sweat information as you are active and begin to sweat. The pod itself is a rechargeable unit that can last up to 36 hours and is about the size of your watch face. It connects by bluetooth to your phone, sending data to the Nix app, which provides alerts to your watch or Garmin device (others brands planned for the future) about when, what, and how much to drink. You can review your data during or after your workout, and there is even a feature in the app that can help you predict your needs for an upcoming event using weather conditions to help remove some of the variables.
Infinit is offering a few different options, some of which include the Nix Biosensor. Personal coaching plans are available at two levels, Gold and Platinum. Gold includes a Nix Biosensor kit with four patches for the wearable sensor, guided workouts, three sample packs to use during the workouts, a five serving custom blend sample, and a one hour personal coaching session with their nutritionists, In the end, you’ll have a custom blend saved to your account for future purchase with a nice discount to use on your first order. The Platinum adds another set of four patches, a second coaching session, and unlimited email support.
Pricing runs $275 for Gold, $375 for Platinum, and additional coaching sessions are available at $99 each. You can also purchase the Nix Starter kit that comes with the Nix and four patches for $129, and includes a free consult for custom blends. As always, you can also do a quick consult for setting up custom blends for free.
How the process works is that you place the order, and get your Nix Biosensor package. From there, you can run through the workouts that Infinit provides, or do your own, just make sure they are over 45 minutes long. You can do as few or as many workout as you want using the single use patches, and then schedule your call with the Infinit nutritionist. Some knock out all of their workouts quick, others take months, but it’s up to you on when you want to get them in and then schedule your sessions with the nutritionist.
Whether you are new to Infinit’s custom blends, or have been using them for years, the Nix Biosensor and nutrition coaching can be very valuable. Collecting the data will provide Infinit’s nutritionists with even more input into what you need for your new blend, or help validate/update your current blends to fit your needs. The coaching available can also be focused specifically on an upcoming event or your long term goals, helping provide a fueling strategy to get you through whatever event you have on your schedule.
Ultra-High Carbohydrate Blends
Additionally, Infinit has launched some new blends over the last year that are offering higher carbohydrates per serving. Based on research that has been around for about 10 years in Australia which focused on using different sources of carbohydrates and the body’s ability to absorb them during workouts, Infinit’s addition of ultra-high carbohydrate blends offers pro level fueling that not many brands have begun to offer yet.
The blends use a 2:1 ratio of glucose to fructose, along with maltodextrin and sucrose. Glucose and fructose are digested differently, which allows you to add more carbs in before hitting the saturation point, keeping your stomach happy. Along with the fueling, the new blends include Infinit’s electrolyte blend, which uses sea salt, potassium, magnesium, and calcium, helps to eliminate cramping by replenishing the minerals lost during sweat. The ingredients they use are all natural, and free of any artificial flavors, sweeteners or colors. The blends are also stable in the heat and will not get sour.
The new blends are offered in 90g and 120g options, along with being semi-customizable. You can select between three different levels of electrolytes (400mg, 500g, or 600mg per serving), add caffeine (0mg, 50mg, or 100mg per serving), and chose from five different flavors. In the future, Infinit is looking to let you customize the blend further with small amounts of protein, but for now, you can always add a little in on your own.
Pricing runs $47.95 for 12 servings of the 90g blend, or $52.95 for the 120g blend. There are no additional costs for any of the customization at this time.
I’m not ready to write up a full review yet, but I have tried both the 90g and 120g blends when they first were released. My custom blends run at 64g and 73g, so I started with the 90g first and have recently moved up to trying the 120g. Both worked well with my stomach, and I felt like I had a bit more in the tank for my workouts. One thing to keep in mind, especially with the 120g blend, it will be a little bit sweeter than typical blends from Infinit due to the additional fructose in the blend, but it wasn’t overly candy sweet like some mixes I’ve tried from other companies.
We are working on getting a Nix in to review, and are planning on covering the Infinit Performance Labs offerings and the 90g and 120g mixes in the future.
