Wahoo Adds Updated ELEMNT ROAM and BOLT, New TRACKR RADAR, All Coming Soon

It’s been a few years since Wahoo updated their ELEMNT ROAM V2 and BOLT V2 cycling computers, and with the release of the top of the range ACE, it’s time for updates to the others. They also have a new rear light with an integrated radar, the TRACKR RADAR, which is set to help the brand round out their line and compete with Garmin on the bike front. Unfortunately, they won’t be available until May.

With the ACE, Wahoo has three tiers of cycling computers. The ACE is the top, offering the best navigation experience with a large screen and turn by turn audio navigation. It also adds an Integrated Wind Sensor to help measure the effects of air resistance in real time and post ride. The ACE is the only computer currently on the market with this kind of sensor integrated into the computer itself. The ROAM is the brand’s mid-level computer that is packed with features that most riders will enjoy. It has all of the navigation features you’d want, a large color screen, and now adds a touchscreen. The BOLT is the smallest computer for those looking for the smallest and lightest computer from the range. It’s still packed with all of the features you’d want and intuitive navigation at an entry level price for those new to cycling. We’ll dig into the details more below.

New to the product line is the TRACKR RADAR. It’s a rear light that also includes rear facing vehicle detection and seamlessly integrates into the ELEMNT ecosystem and computers from other brands.

ELEMNT ROAM

For the ROAM,the computer has seen a general refresh, giving it a more modern look and a larger screen with higher resolution and touchscreen features. We don’t quite have all of the specs yet, but the screen jumps from 2.7″ to 2.8″, and will have a higher resolution than the 240x400pixels on the current generation. The screen also gets an anti-glare treatment and enhanced contrast to make it easier to see in all light conditions. The biggest update on the screen though, will be the touchscreen functionality. The unit still has six physical buttons, but you can pinch, zoom, and swipe to zoom out, zoom in, and change screens, even while wearing gloves.

With no specs to review yet, the unit looks a little more narrow than the current version, but it could just be the reduction of the bezel around the sides of the screen. From pictures, it is hard to tell if Wahoo kept the top and side LED used in various ways while riding, but they are not as visible as the on V2.

On the navigation side, the ROAM V3 gets the turn-by-turn voice guidance of the ACE, along with the detailed maps with points of interest, elevation data, and road types we’ve all come to expect.

The App continues to be the a hub for Wahoo devices. You will be able to connect to more third-party apps and services to expand functionality and data sharing. The Ready To Ride dashboard will continue to make loading routes, syncing workouts, and checking battery and sensor status quick and effortless so you can focus on getting on with your ride.

Battery life is claimed to be up to 25 hours, an eight hour improvement over V2. This positions the ROAM V3 as your go to computer for your big adventures, whether it is on or off road.

ELEMTNT BOLT

The BOLT continues on as the smaller, lighter, aero focused computer in the lineup. Just like the ROAM V3, the BOLT gets a refreshed design with a larger screen. The new version sees a 2.3″ screen, increased from 2.2″, that has been optimized for clarity, especially in bright sunlight. It does not get the touch screen, but keeps the six physical buttons from the previous version.

Having used previous versions of the BOLT, it’s still a great option for those looking for the navigation bells and whistles you’d find on the ROAM and other GPS computers, but it doesn’t have the voice guided turn-by-turn navigation.

The BOLT V3 does carry over the same app experience and Ready To Ride dashboard of the ROAM, making it incredibly easy to use. With a 20 hour battery life, you get a five hour increase in usage.

TRACKR RADAR

Finally, the TRACKR RADAR is the brand’s first step into lights and bike radar. Safety is at the core of the RADAR, allowing riders to be seen and also have greater awareness of vehicles approaching from the rear.

As vehicles approach, the RADAR increases it’s flash pattern to make you more visible to drivers. It also has a built in accelerometer, allowing the unit to act as a brake light when you get on the brakes, but also adjusting brightness depending on how fast you are decelerating.

While the RADAR adds a new capability to the Wahoo eco-system, the unit is compatible with other Bluetooth or ANT+ cycling computers. Battery life is claimed to last up to 20 hours by using the power saving mode that decreases the brightness of the light.

The RADAR uses a band mount around the tube, and can be used with round or various aero tubes. The unit can be twisted off to take with you or charge off the bike.

Gareth Joyce, CEO of Wahoo commented “At Wahoo Fitness, we’re driven by innovation that empowers athletes to push their limits.  Our new ELEMNT cycling computers and TRACKR RADAR rear light are designed to keep riders connected, safe, and performing at their best—whether that be at the Tour de France or on a daily work commute.”

Pricing has surprisingly only gone up $50 for both of the computers from the previous editions. Both will be available to order on May 6th, 2025, but we don’t have a date on the TRACKR RADAR as of now. We are working on getting a samples in for review to compare them to previous editions.
