In a final run into the line in Nimes that saw sprint leader Biniam Girmay go down in a crash, it was Jasper Philipsen crossing the line first to win Stage 16 of the 2024 Tour de France after a fantastic leadout by his teammate Mathieu Van Der Poel.
After a long, rolling stage, Biniam Girmay (Intermarche – Wanty) had the legs to take his third win in the 2024 Tour de France, edging out Wout van Aert, Arnaud Démare, Pascal Ackerman and Mark Cavendish in the final meters of Stage 12.
Surviving a break that started just 10km into the stage, Kasper Asgreen (Soudal – Quick-Step) won the final sprint against his 3 attack group mates to win Stage 18 of the 2023 Tour de France.
Michal Kwiatkowski (Ineos Grenadiers) survived the breakaway to win Stage 13 of the 2023 Tour de France atop the Col du Grand Colombier on Bastille Day.
Jasper Philipsen of the Alpecin – Deceuninck squad won stage 3 of the 2023 Tour de France in Bayonne in a bunch sprint finish ahead of Phil Bauhaus and Caleb Ewan.
Mathieu van der Poel added yet another monument victory to his palmeres with a solo win at the 2023 Paris-Roubaix.
An attack on the last lap of the Oude Kwaremont, at 20 km to the end of the 2023 Tour of Flanders, strengthened the tale of Tadej Pogačar as one of the top stars of cycling.
