Having already released pre-ride and in-ride hydration products over the years, Osmo Nutrition has now rounded our their product line to add Rapid Recovery. The new drink mix blends protein, carbs, and caffeine to help repair muscles and boost glycogen replacement.
After a tough workout, consuming protein and carbs is important to help your body recover and prepare for your next workout. Protein helps to rebuild the muscles that were damaged (in a good way) while working out, and the carbs help your body replace glycogen, which fuels your body. Timing matters, so consuming protein and carbs within 30 minutes after your workout is most optimal. That’s why recovery drink mixes are popular, as you can get targeted nutrition in an easy-to-use form. Just add it to a bottle, add water (or milk), shake, and drink.
Osmo uses two forms of protein, whey isolate, and micellar casein. The whey is fast-acting to start the recovery process, while the casein is a longer-lasting protein that is proven to stop muscle breakdown. Interestingly, Osmo claims that the addition of a small amount of caffeine helps to aid in glycogen replenishment. As of the original posting of this article, I’m not sure how much caffeine is added, but we’ll update as we find out.
Depending on the flavor, Chocolate or Vanilla, you get slightly different amounts of protein, carbs, and calories. 17-18 grams of protein per serving. For carbs, you are looking at 15-19 grams per serving, and 130-140 calories per serving. Vanilla gets you more protein (18g) with less carbs (15g) and calories (130), while Chocolate gets you slightly less protein (17g) and higher carbs (19g) and calories (140).
Each 14 serving tub retails for $35. They are available now through Osmo’s website, or through your local Osmo dealer. We are looking forward to getting samples in for Osmo’s Preload Hydration, Active Hydration, and Rapid Recover for a full line review later this year.
